The present study was conceptualized to develop the Enhanced River Pollution Index (ERPI) model. The ERPI model was used to evaluate the river water quality (RWQ) for its beneficial usage, i.e., drinking with (DCD) and without (DD) conventional treatment, outdoor-bathing (OB), wildlife and fisheries (WF), and industrial and irrigation (IIW). The adequacy of multiple linear regression (MLR) and support vector regression (SVR) models was also investigated to predict the ERPI for estimating the RWQ. The accuracy of the MLR and SVR models was tested by using the statistical parameters, i.e., root mean squared error (RMSE), coefficient of determination (R2), and mean absolute error (MAE). The results revealed that the MLR models performed well (RMSE = 0.004 ± 0.0043, R2 = 0.998 ± 0.001, and MAE = 0.002 ± 0.003) for the DD, DCD, and OB. However, the SVR models estimated the RWQ more accurately (RMSE = 0.041 ± 0.001, R2 = 0.962 ± 0.010, and MAE = 0.026 ± 0.002) than the MLR models for WF and IIW. Moreover, this study disclosed that the RWQ was not excellent for DD, OB, and DCD. However, the RWQ was categorized from excellent to poor classes for WF, while it was suitable for IIW.This study reports the preparation of TiO2 and CeO2 doped with different quantities of terbium and discusses the influence of this dopant on the photocatalytic activity of the semiconductors, with respect to the degradation of methylene blue, under ultraviolet and solar radiations. The oxides obtained were characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared vibrational spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and dispersive energy spectroscopy. The results indicate that the presence of the dopant in TiO2 favored the formation of the anatase crystalline phase to the detriment of rutile, increased the band gap energy, and decreased the size of the nanoparticles. Doping CeO2 with Tb resulted in a fluorite-type crystalline structure, reduced band gap, and smaller particle size. The photocatalytic activity decreases as the concentration of terbium increases regardless of the radiation source and nature of the oxide. Furthermore, a better performance was observed for all semiconductors excited by solar radiation in comparison to ultraviolet light. The samples of pure TiO2 and TiO2 doped with 0.5 and 1% terbium showed total removal of the dye after less than 120 min of reaction, while the samples of pure CeO2 and CeO2 doped with 0.5% terbium showed approximately 80% and 57% of dye removal after 120 min, suggesting that these materials can be promising for the treatment of industrial effluents.Inflammatory pain associates with spinal glial activation and central sensitization. The study was performed in Sprague Dawley rats with intraplantar CFA, and a single lumbosacral intrathecal (i.t.) administration of IMT504 or vehicle was chosen to address if changes in glial activation and spinal sensitization relate to the pain-like behavior reducing effects of the ODN. Naïve rats were also included. Von Frey and Randall-Selitto tests, respectively, exposed significant reductions in allodynia and mechanical hypersensitivity, lasting at least 24 h after i.t. IMT504. Our literature review yielded limited and conflicting clinical data on the effectiveness of pharmacological treatments for psychiatric symptoms in children with FASD, with some symptom domains lacking data altogether. We determined that, while the genome-wide mutation rate is slightly higher in the streptomycin-treated lines compared to the control lines, there is a significant increase in the nalidixic acid-treated lines. Our findings suggest that both broad and narrow-spectrum antibiotics may elevate the mutation rates in E. coli, but mechanisms of action may affect the consequence, thus contribute to accelerating the rate of adaptation and conferring antibiotic resistance.Ultra-endurance has been defined as any exercise bout that exceeds 6 h. Indeed, while the male-to-female performance gap in traditional endurance sport (e.g., marathon) remains at?~?10%, the disparity in ultra-endurance competition has been reported as low as 4% despite the markedly lower number of female participants. Moreover, females generally outperform males in extreme-distance swimming. The issue is complex, however, with many sports-specific considerations and caveats. This review summarizes the sex-based differences in physiological functions and draws attention to those which likely determine success in extreme exercise endeavors. The aim is to provide a balanced discussion of the female versus male predisposition to ultra-endurance sport. Herein, we discuss sex-based differences in muscle morphology and fatigability, respiratory-neuromechanical function, substrate utilization, oxygen utilization, gastrointestinal structure and function, and hormonal control.
